Currently there is no straight forward option to mark half day. Need this as permanent solution.

Current work around suggested: Add 4 hours break in a day which means in reports it reflects as 9 working hours - 4.5 hours break = 4.5 working hours

Later change it back to 1 hour break next day to avoid default changes
